Welcome to Competitive Mock Trial at Virginia Tech!
An Undergraduate Competitive Team: Empowered by students, driven by passion.
Competitive Mock Trial Team at Virginia Tech is a tryout-based organization welcoming all students, with or without experience in Mock Trial, to join our team under the motto "One Team: Team VT." Hokies work together to analyze cases, play witnesses and attorneys, and compete with some of the best universities nationwide.
COMPETING
Our students compete in tournaments in the American Mock Trial Association circuit. Over 700 college teams take part in these competitions to see who the best of the best is. We litigate cases, both criminal and civil, by representing both sides in competition.
EXPERIENCE
Members of our mock trial team gain practical knowledge of courtroom procedures and develop expertise in the Federal Rules of Evidence. In each round, both sides deliver an opening statement, present three witnesses, and conclude with a closing argument, all within a three-hour trial.
TEAM-BUILDING
As a team activity, we work to ensure that our students leave with lasting connections, whether or not our teammates are interested in the legal profession. We work to make sure that our team feels like a second family and home to our members.
