WHO ARE WE?
Founded in 2018, Mock Trial is Virginia Tech’s first legal organization. We meet multiple times each week to analyze case materials, prepare witnesses and attorneys, and compete against some of the nation’s most competitive universities in the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) collegiate circuit.
Each season includes both invitational tournaments and the AMTA postseason, including Regionals, the Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS), and Nationals. Rooted in the interdisciplinary nature of law, our members engage with complex case materials spanning fields such as biochemistry, psychology, and forensic evidence while bringing each trial to life through realistic courtroom simulation.
Beyond competition, the team offers workshops, social events, networking opportunities, and more for any student interested in exploring law or simply enjoying the challenge of persuasive argument and performance.

Program Spotlight
Virginia Tech Mock Trial was recently featured in a Program Spotlight interview with Juris Education, a national law school admissions consulting firm. In the interview, Vice President and Tournament Director Karthik Rathinasabapathy discusses the team's competitive culture, tournament experience, and opportunities for students interested in mock trial.
